Congratulations to Dani on one of the gutsiest debuts Kona has ever seen.
While she was eventually run down by a three-time champion in Mirinda Carfrae, I couldn’t be more proud of the way she approached this race and executed from 40 miles on the bike.
She was an army of one who did everything in her power to win this race, and nearly pulled it off. Do not underestimate the toughness or ability required to lead off the front in such oppressive conditions against possibly the strongest field ever assembled for a Women’s Ironman World Championships. It was a warrior’s performance.
Our Angry Bird should enjoy all the plaudits that come her way over the next couple of days and weeks. She deserves them.
Then we come back, regroup, and plot how we go one better in 2015.
