Jo and I holding a training camp together during TeamTBB days. Ironman winning coach and athlete.

I am very excited to welcome Jo Spindler of Germany to our coaching ranks.

Jo was an exceptional athlete, winning 5 iron distance events and a host of European and national titles.

I’ve had Jo earmarked to be a coach of international repute since our first camp together while he was still competing for TeamTBB as an athlete in the Philippines in 2007. Jo displays not just a grasp of the science of performance coaching, but also an empathy for the art of coaching the individual. His inherent feel for not just the numbers, but the psychological and social circumstance of athletes was visible very early on.

Since becoming a full-time coach, Jo has continued to hone his coaching skills and in 2014 his professional squad and age group athletes went to a new level of performance. In the last year his pro team racked up 8 international wins and he has thus far qualified 16 age-group athletes to compete at Hawaii or 70.3 World Championships.

Very impressive indeed. So I’m proud to announce that Jo as a certified coach, member of our team and contributor to our website. His articles will be a fantastic source of useful information from the very beginner to Ironman winners.

Welcome Jo.
