Sprint finish for Brian Moya and Carlos Quinchara at the Colombian National Games.

After a difficult year with accidents and some ups and downs, my squad this weekend closed out the year with a flourish. Every four years the National Games are held and this time we won all possible medals with the exception of one missing bronze!

AndresSquadHappy Coach and squad.

On the first day of the Championships we had the Standard Distance Triathlon which was won by Brian Moya in first place followed by Carlos Quinchara in second. This gave us the Gold in the Team’s Category.

These results were just the beginning.

In the Sprint Distance Triathlon our team took the trifecta with Carlos and Brian swapping places and Juan Rubio charging into the bronze.

PodiumGold: Carlos Quinchara, Silver: Brian Moya, Bronze: Juan Rubio, and Gold in the Team Category.

Finally on the third day we had the Mixed Relay where together Brian Moya and Carlos Quinchara took gold.

We are very excited as with these results the National Olympic Committe will support the process to Rio 2016 for Carlos, and the Olympic Cycle begins for Brian and Juan. Well done boys!

Recap from Coach Michelle Barnes:

Less than a week out, I suggested to Chris Chesher that I wanted him to do the Hervey Bay 100 (2/80/18). He rearranged some family things, drove 3hrs the day before the race and won his age group by 9 minutes and placed 5th overall – including pros which included big names like Sam Betten & Dave Dellow. Chris has been working very hard, putting in the hard yards and is making significant improvements in his bike strength and run off the bike, so proud of him- we are on our way!

Race Recap from Coach Susie Langley:

Kim_Sam DinasAnother win for Kim Kilgroe.

‘Winner, winner, turkey dinner’ for Kim Kilgroe this weekend as she won the San Dimas Turkey Tri in California. Kim continues to improve with each race and we are very happy with her commitment and progression.  Now it’s back to work!

Gisela SnowSwiss athlete Gisela Reichmuth competing in Corrida Bulloise this weekend. Races anytime, anywhere. 😉

Race Recap from Coach Brett Sutton:

Lukas X-countryLucky V back in the spikes.

Quiet weekend ahead of Ironman Cozumel and a fairly big race for the Bird (Daniela Ryf) the week after. Lukas continues to build strength competing in a 5km (15:10) followed by a cross-country race in a low 32 minutes (10th), 30 seconds down on the winner.

Also had the pleasure of attending the Swiss Triathlon Awards where Daniela took out Athlete of the Year with Nicola (Spirig) following her in voting and … Brett Sutton named Coach of the Year! Not usually my style but a suit and tie for an enjoyable evening with my wife.

Congratulations to all our athletes competing this weekend.
