We now head into a busy race weekend with Nicola (Spirig) kicking it off with her World Triathlon Series comeback in Cape Town, South Africa. While being totally underdone for triathlon – having raced an international marathon last weekend – we expect her champion qualities to carry her into the Top 10 for some valuable points towards Olympic qualification.
From South Africa we go to the Canary Islands at Challenge Fuerteventura where Corinne Abraham begins her season and build towards Ironman Texas. This will be her first real race using the new swim and bike techniques developed since joining the Trisutto.com squad. While Athlete is expectedly apprehensive, Coach has warned super champ Daniela Ryf that this race won’t be a cakewalk with the M.I.T (Monster-in-Training) toeing the startline.
The Angry Bird (Daniela Ryf) is now back into full training and this race will close out her month in the sun and build base fitness coming into Ironman 70.3 Rapperswil.
In the men’s race we hope to see Ritchie Nicholls back on the podium after a good month of solid work. Ritchie is starting to show form and so this race will be the next step in his build up for the European summer.
Best mechanical luck to all.
