Nicola Spirig finished runner-up at Ironman 70.3 St. Pölten with a 1:16 run split.

Ironman Texas and Ironman 70.3 St Polten have been run and the results were a mixed bag for the pro squad this weekend. After a great swim and ride Todd (Skipworth) had issues on the run and didn’t finish.

We saw a very solid effort from Corinne Abraham, who produced a Texas course record bike split and backed it up with a strong run to finish in the Top 5.

Everyone in our team was also very pleased to see Beck Preston return to the Top 10 in Ironman racing, running down some very accomplished athletes in the second half of the marathon. So a big step in the right direction.

At Ironman 70.3 St. Pölten Nicola has finished up a rather hectic training month. In the last month she has taken podiums at the Zurich Marathon, ITU World Series Cape Town, a 3000m Swiss Grand Prix meet just this Thursday and now a 2nd in Austria. As to where this all fits in; Nicola needed a solid bike effort for the upcoming European Championships. This course gave it to her and she followed up with a 1:16 half marathon, running out of pavement in chasing down a very strong Anja Beranek.

We congratulate the winners of this weekend’s races. Well deserved and we have no excuses.
