Vassilis Krommidas

Vassilis Krommidas has been involved with triathlon for 28 years as an athlete and coach. He won an Age Group Ironman World Title (and course record) in Hawaii before successfully moving to short course racing, competing in two Olympic Games (Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004). He is based in Marathon, Greece and speaks Greek, English and Russian.

Each person is different and each has their own talent. My job is using my knowledge and experience to find this talent and to bring it to the surface. I want my athletes to achieve better results, not only in sports but in every moment of their lives.

Knowing from the early 90s the success that Brett Sutton has with his athletes, it has been a privilege learning his training principles and watching in person at camp the methodology and passion that he passes on to his campers. It is obvious that such knowledge targeted with an individual approach for each athlete, why this is the most successful team with the best training system!

I look forward to helping you to achieve your goals.

I got into triathlon three and a half years ago the same way thousands of triathletes enter the sport: I tried out a sprint race. Nevertheless, that single event was not the reason for the big change in my lifestyle that followed shortly after,Vassilis Kromidas was. Vassilis is a truly unique coach not only because of his invaluable experience as an elite athlete but mainly due to his charismatic personality. He is characterised by his ‘powerful calmness’ that somehow triggers the driving force to strive for the best in all of his athletes. Having Vassilis as a coach means not only discovering new personal limits as an athlete, but also learning to be patient when trying to break them.

Years in Triathlon

Olympic Games

National Titles (Athlete)

National Titles (Coach)

Vassilis Krommidas has been my coach for more than seven years. With his help, I have been able to train consistently and progressively, whilst staying free from injury. This has led to the opportunity for me to take part in the Ironman World Championship, six Ironman 70.3 World Championships, as well as multiple ITU World Championships. I have achieved significantly more than I ever thought possible, especially whilst juggling a busy work schedule and family responsibilities. Vassilis understands implicitly the competing priorities in my life, he is always available and responds promptly to my questions, quickly and effectively adapting my training schedule as necessary. Over the years Vassilis has become much more than my triathlon coach, a very close friend.

Only a few years ago it was inconceivable for me that I would participate in any athletic competition, much less in a triathlon. Vasilis has introduced me to this sport. He has been coaching me ever since consistenly, keeping me fit and injury free while managing work schedule with substantial travelling and family, keeping the fun while constantly improving. He is also a vast source of information, knowledge as well as historical details about triathlon.

Why Low Cadence for Triathlon?
