Athlete Development Programs
Damha Triathlon Kids, Sao Carlos, Brazil
The Damha Triathlon Kids project grew out of an independent social project first started in 1997 in São Carlos. It catered daily to 220 underprivileged youths from 10-14 years old from lower income homes to provide food, clothing, health care and schooling. This grew to 350 with the setting up of four more groups in other municipalities in 2007. Years before this project was officially launched, however, Brett Sutton and Cali Amaral had already been actively working to assist in this area, as well as discovering and nurturing talent in the sport of triathlon. Creating opportunities changed lives and help families; including those of the champion athletes that were developed.
