This pack contains 3 training plans for triathletes who want to run a marathon. The plans incorporate swim and bike workouts as part of the program.
The emphasis is on completing the run workouts, however swim and bike are included to add additional aerobic training to the plan, as well as assist in recovery and injury prevention. Hence, the swim and bike are also maintained. After completion of your marathon, and returning to a more traditional triathlon plan, you will be able to prepare for the triathlon season from an excellent fitness level.
- Finisher - This plan is suitable for triathletes looking to finish a marathon. It contains 1 workout per day, building up to 8 hours per week (of run, swim and bike).
- Intermediate - Each week is comprised of 1 to 2 workouts per day with one rest day. Starting at 6 to 7 hours per week, the program builds up to 12 hours maximum in the biggest volume weeks (of run, swim and bike).
- Advanced - Each week is comprised of 1 to 2 workouts per day. Starting at approx 12 hours per week, the program builds up to 18 hours per week (of run, swim and bike).
Assumptions:
Finisher plan - The participant has a basic level of fitness, has been actively training recently, is injury free and can complete a 5km run comfortably.
Intermediate plan - The participant has a basic level of fitness, has been actively training recently, is injury free and can complete a 1 hour run comfortably.
Advanced plan - The participant has a basic level of fitness, has been actively training recently, is injury free and can complete a 1 hour 30 min run comfortably.
